Shameless Plug...

Hello Everyone!

Time out for a message from our sponsor...

At the risk of including some non-travel info that might look like a solicitation, I wanted to let you know about a non-profit I support. They're in the middle of their spring pledge drive and could use your help, if you're so inclined.

I've been associated with Discover Classical, also known as Dayton Public Radio, for decades now. I've been a member and supporter for a very long time and first began listening to the station when I was stationed in Dayton the first time, way back in 1988. I'm now honored to serve on their board of trustees.

Yes, you can stream classical music on multiple platforms, but only a local, non-profit, non-commercial station like Discover Classical gives you background information on the music, promotes young talent in our community, collects instruments for children in Dayton Public Schools, hosts local concerts and artists, and so much more. No news, no politics, just music 24/7. It’s a peaceful oasis for me in this noisy world, and I’ve been proud to be a supporter.

Although radio is far-reaching and accessible to everyone, it still needs funding to keep the music on the air. Right now Discover Classical is holding its spring membership campaign from March 15–20. I’m offering a matching grant on Friday the 20th during the 5-6pm EDT time slot. Would you help by donating to the station and making this matching gift go even further? Your gift, no matter the size, instantly makes a difference in the lives of people in our community. Each contribution goes directly toward keeping this fabulous local classical station on the air and streaming for everyone.

I enjoy Discover Classical because of my deep appreciation for classical music, but it goes well beyond that. I've seen their books - I know the dedicated people who make the station work. It's a well-run, debt-free organization providing a real service to our community. If you want to help spread the joys, excitement, and comfort that thoughtfully curated classical music offers, please consider making a contribution by calling 937-222-9377 or donating online at www.discoverclassical.org/give. If you have already made a contribution, thank you so much.

And now, "Bach" to my regular programming on this blog!

All the best,
Jim
